Do good every day: how small deeds change the world

We all want to live in a world that feels kinder and more caring. Many of us dream of making a difference. But often we imagine something very big, and then it feels out of reach. Life gets busy. We feel too small to change anything. So we wait for the “right moment.” The truth is simple. Real change often begins with small, everyday actions.

Small acts, real impact

Big projects are inspiring, but small gestures are powerful too. A smile. A short message. Holding a door open. A kind word can stay in someone’s memory for years. A listening ear can help someone feel less alone. Even a few minutes of care can make a difference.

Where the idea started: the Happy Calendar

This belief in small actions is where SEIK began. We started publishing the Happy Calendar when we were 8th grade students. We noticed that people around us did not seem happy. We did not know if it was because of the dark winter or something else, but we felt we wanted to change that. So we created a calendar with one small challenge for every day. Simple tasks like “Hug someone,” “Smile,” or “Drink milk.” Small actions to bring a little joy into everyday life.

In the first year, we printed 1,000 calendars. They sold out within a few weeks. That showed us something important. Small actions truly matter, and people want more of them in their lives.

How small ideas grew

Five years later, we became SEIK Publisher and started creating many more products. We expanded to the Baltics, Finland, and other parts of Europe.
The goal stayed the same with every product we made. To inspire people. To offer small adventures. To make everyday life a little happier.
Today, we have created over 500 different products, all built on the same idea: small, meaningful actions can create real change.

Kindness helps the giver too

Doing good is not only for the person receiving it. It supports the person giving as well. Kind actions calm the body, lower stress, and give life meaning. When we help someone, we feel connected and reminded that our actions matter.

Simple ways to start today

You do not need a special plan. You can begin right now.
• Listen fully when someone talks
• Give a sincere compliment
• Offer help when you see someone struggling
• Share food or lend a hand
• Donate items you no longer need
• Call an older relative or friend
• Say “thank you” and mean it

These gestures may seem small, but they often arrive at exactly the right moment.

Life is made of small moments

Most of life is not made of big milestones, but of ordinary days. When we fill those days with small good deeds, the world slowly becomes warmer and safer.
